Disney Cruise Line Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 Itineraries: What Families Need to Know
Disney Cruise Line has officially released its Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 itineraries, and this is not simply another collection of familiar Bahamian and Caribbean cruises.
The Disney Wish is headed to New York. Disney Cruise Line is adding more opportunities to sail from San Juan. The Disney Magic will cross the Panama Canal twice. The Disney Destiny is moving to Port Canaveral for the first time. There are also several special sailings with two visits to Disney Castaway Cay, new ports of call and seasonal cruises for Halloween and Christmas.
Early booking begins for Pearl Castaway Club members on August 31, 2026, followed by the remaining Castaway Club tiers and the general public.
If you are considering one of these sailings, here is what was released, which itineraries stand out and what you should have ready before your booking day arrives.

Online booking begins at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time on each applicable day. Travelers working with a travel advisor should submit their preferences before their booking window opens so their advisor knows exactly what to prioritize.
The Disney Wish Is Returning to New York
The biggest headline is the Disney Wish sailing from New York City in fall 2027.
After completing its inaugural European season, the Disney Wish will arrive in New York in late September for seven special voyages ranging from four to seven nights. Five of those sailings will visit Bermuda. Three include an extended visit, giving guests an additional day to enjoy the island. The Disney Wish will also sail from New York to New England and Atlantic Canada as the fall foliage season begins.
This combination is likely to appeal to several different groups:
Families within driving distance of New York who want to avoid flying to Florida
Guests who want to experience the Disney Wish on something other than a short Bahamian itinerary
Travelers interested in Bermuda without giving up the Disney Cruise Line experience
Repeat Disney cruisers looking for a ship-and-itinerary combination they have not sailed before
Families who want to pair a cruise with a few days exploring New York City
Because there are only seven New York departures, these cruises are among the sailings I would watch most closely when booking opens.
More Disney Cruises From San Juan
The Disney Wish and Disney Fantasy will both sail from San Juan during Fall 2027 and Spring 2028. Their five- to seven-night Southern and Eastern Caribbean cruises will make it easier to reach islands that are difficult to include on a traditional round-trip Florida itinerary.
San Juan sailings can be a wonderful fit for travelers who care as much about the destinations as the ship. They may visit several ports during a single cruise and often offer a more port-intensive experience than a typical Bahamian vacation.
The important planning consideration is airfare. I recommend arriving in San Juan at least one day before embarkation, just as I do for every cruise that requires a flight. Families should compare the complete vacation cost, including flights and a pre-cruise hotel, rather than looking only at the cruise fare.
Two Panama Canal Cruises on the Disney Magic
The Disney Magic will make two 14-night repositioning cruises through the Panama Canal and each sailing includes a maiden call for Disney Cruise Line!
The eastbound itinerary will stop at Fuerte Amador, serving Panama City, while the westbound sailing will visit Colón on the Caribbean side of the canal.
These are not typical family getaways. They require more vacation time, have more sea days and may involve one-way flights. But for experienced Disney cruisers, retired travelers, homeschool families and anyone who views the journey itself as the destination, they may be among the most memorable itineraries in the release.
Long repositioning cruises can also be appealing to guests who love the onboard experience. More days at sea create additional opportunities to enjoy the entertainment, dining, adult spaces and activities that can be difficult to fit into a short sailing.
The Disney Destiny Is Moving to Port Canaveral
For the first time, the Disney Destiny will home port at Port Canaveral during Fall 2027!
The ship will begin the season sailing from Fort Lauderdale on three- to five-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises. It will then offer three- to seven-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral.
This move gives Central Florida travelers more opportunities to sail aboard Disney's heroes-and-villains-themed ship. It also makes the Disney Destiny easier to combine with a Walt Disney World vacation.
For families considering a land-and-sea trip, I generally recommend visiting Walt Disney World before the cruise. The parks are the more active portion of the vacation, and the cruise gives everyone a chance to slow down afterward.
Familiar Florida Departures With Some Special Twists
Florida will continue to offer the largest variety of Disney Cruise Line options.
Disney Wish
After its New York and San Juan sailings, the Disney Wish will return to Port Canaveral for three- and four-night Bahamian cruises visiting Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Disney Treasure
The Disney Treasure will continue its popular seven-night Eastern and Western
Caribbean itineraries. It will also offer two special voyages:
An eight-night Eastern Caribbean sailing
A six-night Bahamian sailing with two visits to Disney Castaway Cay
The longer Eastern Caribbean cruise gives guests additional time aboard the Disney Treasure, while the double-Castaway-Cay sailing is an appealing choice for families who prioritize beach time and Disney's private island experience.
Disney Dream
The Disney Dream will begin with three- and four-night Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral before moving to Fort Lauderdale in November 2027. From Fort Lauderdale, it will offer three- to five-night Bahamian itineraries, including one six-night sailing with two calls at Disney Castaway Cay.
Disney Fantasy
The Disney Fantasy will sail from Port Canaveral from September through November 2027 on four- and five-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises. It will also sail from Fort Lauderdale on four- to seven-night Bahamian and Eastern Caribbean itineraries.
One especially notable option is an eight-night Bermuda cruise from Fort Lauderdale that also visits both Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay. The Disney Fantasy has sailed to Bermuda before, (I did in 2023!), but this particular combination of a Fort Lauderdale departure, Bermuda and both Disney island destinations makes the itinerary stand out.
Two Disney Ships Will Begin the Season in San Diego
Disney Cruise Line will begin Fall 2027 with both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder sailing from San Diego through early November. The ships will offer three- to seven-night Baja and Mexican Riviera voyages.
The Disney Wonder will then continue sailing from San Diego through Spring 2028, with itineraries that may include Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas and Catalina Island.
These cruises are especially valuable for West Coast families who would prefer not to fly across the country for a Disney cruise. Shorter Baja itineraries can also work well for first-time cruisers who want to try Disney Cruise Line without committing to a full week.
Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime Cruises Return
Select ships will celebrate Halloween on the High Seas beginning in September 2027. These sailings typically include seasonal character costumes, entertainment, deck parties and trick-or-treating at sea.
Very Merrytime Cruises return in November and December 2027, with holiday decorations, a tree-lighting celebration, seasonal entertainment, festive treats and visits from Santa.
The exact experience can vary by ship and sailing, so the seasonal theme should be considered part of the vacation rather than the only reason to select a particular itinerary. Dates, ship, departure port, cruise length and overall budget still matter.
Which Sailings May Be Most Popular?
No one can guarantee how quickly a sailing or stateroom category will sell, but limited and unusual itineraries typically deserve extra attention.
Based on this release, I would prepare early for:

Bermuda cruises, especially the Disney Fantasy's eight-night itinerary combining Bermuda with both Disney island destinations
The Disney Magic's 14-night Panama Canal crossings
The Disney Treasure and Disney Dream sailings with two visits to Disney Castaway Cay
Holiday cruises that fall during school breaks
Concierge staterooms and specific family configurations on high-interest sailings
Opening day is not only about whether a cruise will sell out. Disney Cruise Line pricing is generally dynamic, which means fares may rise as more staterooms are booked. Guests who need a very specific category, connecting rooms, an accessible stateroom or a limited suite have even more reason to be prepared.
What Should You Decide Before Booking Opens?
You do not need to know every detail of your vacation, but you should have enough information to make a confident decision.
Before your booking day, consider:
Your earliest possible departure and latest possible return date. Remember to allow time to arrive in the embarkation city at least one day before sailing when flying.
Your complete travel party. Include the legal names and birthdates of every guest, plus the ages of children at the time of sailing.
Your preferred departure ports. Decide whether you are willing to fly and whether a one-way or international flight is realistic.
Your ideal cruise length. A three-night escape and a 14-night Panama Canal cruise are completely different vacations.
What matters most: the ship or the destination. Some travelers want the Disney Wish specifically. Others care more about Bermuda, Southern Caribbean ports or the Panama Canal.
Your stateroom preferences. Know whether you want an inside, oceanview, verandah or Concierge stateroom, and whether connecting rooms or accessibility features are essential.
Your approximate budget. Include the cruise fare, flights, hotel, transportation, travel protection, gratuities and spending money.
Your first and second choices. A backup sail date, ship or stateroom category makes opening-day decisions much easier.
Is One of These New Disney Cruises Right for Your Family?
This release offers much more than one obvious "best" cruise.
The Disney Wish from New York may be perfect for one family. Another may prefer the port variety of a San Juan sailing, the convenience of the Disney Destiny from Port Canaveral or the relaxed beach time of a double-Castaway-Cay itinerary.
Experienced cruisers may be drawn to the Panama Canal, while West Coast families finally have more options closer to home.
The right choice depends on your travel party, available dates, budget, departure-port preferences and whether the ship itself or the itinerary matters most.
